No. Brightline services are all delivered virtually, through 1:1 video visits and our secure app, which we call Brightline Connect. This approach allows us to bring care right to families, wherever and whenever they need it. We know that telehealth is effective — and even preferred — by many families. In fact, in a recent survey, 85% of parents who used virtual behavioral health services during the COVID-19 pandemic said their child benefitted from that care. Learn more about the effectiveness of telehealth here and here.

Brightline supports kids and teens ages 0-17 and their families, with care tailored to their unique needs.
In coaching, for kids ages 0-5 we mainly work with parents and caregivers to build their skills to manage emerging challenges and create a supportive environment that encourages healthy development in their children, and for ages 6-17 we both work directly with kids and teens as well as parents and caregivers to learn strategies to cope with challenges as well as build strengths and resilience as they grow.
Behavioral therapy and medication support, including diagnostic evaluations and treatment, are available for kids ages 2-17 for therapy and 6-17 for medication management to manage more complex, higher acuity challenges that are deeply impacting the child’s daily functioning.
Teens who turn 18 while in our care will continue to receive support as appropriate and providers will create a transition plan for their next chapter.
Ask us! During your onboarding, we will do an in-depth assessment. We will gather details about your child’s developmental history, as well as any patterns or changes you’ve noticed. Together, we will decide whether it's the right time for therapy. If it is, we’ll create a personalized care plan — with your input — that works for your child and your family. And we’ll measure progress as it goes, making changes along the way as needed.
It depends on what your child needs. Your therapist or coach will partner with you to create a care plan. Part of the plan will include an estimated number of sessions. The number can vary based on two things — the program your child is in and how they progress over time. Our goal is to help your child feel better and to progress them out of care once they are equipped with the skills they need to thrive long term.
Yes. If your child is in therapy, you will be able to participate in some of the sessions along with your child. (At your first session, you can talk to your therapist about how often they recommend having family sessions.) In addition, your therapist will engage you periodically in caregiver-only sessions to update you on your child's progress.

Comprehensive and personalized care. When you sign up, you’ll answer a few questions about your child’s needs and goals. These questions will help inform the conversations with your care team. You gain immediate access to Brightline’s library of resources.
You're also matched with an expert Brightline coach who is available to support you via chat. When you’re ready to book live care, you'll be able to schedule a 1:1 video session right away — most members have their first session within just a few days.
Common challenges addressed in sessions include: anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, sleep, tough transitions, low self-esteem, starting school, navigating identities, and meeting milestones or goals. Coaching for parents and caregivers is also available.
At Brightline, we provide specialized support that involves parents and caregivers in their child’s journey. Everything you need is in one place — as your family’s needs change, your care plan will evolve with you.
All Brightline therapists and coaches use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in their approach. CBT is a science-backed treatment that helps your child explore their feelings and develop healthy ways of coping.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a clinically validated form of treatment for a range of behavioral health issues. CBT helps people see patterns of negative thinking or responses so they can learn how to replace them with more positive approaches. At Brightline, this is the form of treatment that our therapists focus on.
In CBT, your child's therapist will help your child explore their feelings and teach them healthy ways to cope with difficult ones like anxiety or depression. These coping mechanisms are reinforced with exercises that you and your child can work on together between sessions.
For the majority of people, yes. In studies on CBT-based behavioral health coaching, it’s been found that around 62% of people see reliable improvement. Close to 70% of people find that their overall behavioral health needs are met through coaching.
Coaching deals with behaviors or emotions that your child is experiencing in shorter, focused sessions. Expert behavioral health coaches teach new skills that address things like separation anxiety or tantrums. Coaches then practice these skills with the child, motivating them to work towards positive change and reaching their goals.
In therapy, the therapist or psychologist works with you and your child to change patterns of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that are causing distress for your family. Therapy is used to assess, diagnose, and treat more severe or complex conditions.
It depends. Coaching programs are typically six sessions long. The duration of therapy varies depending on the care plan that the therapist develops with you during your first two sessions.
Yes. One recent survey showed that 85% of parents who had a child participating in virtual behavioral health services said their child benefited from that care. We know that for some kids and teens, it’s not always easy to talk to someone new about their challenges or feelings. Kids often feel more relaxed and open to sharing from the comfort and privacy of their home.

You can, but it's not recommended.
Here's why: When your care team can see your child or your family on a wider screen, they are able to see and understand each person's body language and how you are interacting with one another (which is important!). Having everyone together in the same room (versus joining from various devices in different places) helps, too. And being in a quiet, private environment eliminates distractions and allows everyone to share without concern about sensitive information being heard.
All that said, our number one goal is to make your family’s care as convenient and flexible as possible. If you do need to take a session from your phone via the app, we understand. Your therapist or coach will work with you to get the most out of the session.
Currently those caregivers and parents who have enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA) do not have access to login to the mobile application. We are actively working to enable this capability. For those with MFA turned on that would like access, we ask that you turn off MFA within the web application before logging into mobile until we have enabled this capability. We will update you once this is resolved.
